Even with SIM inserted, Sony Xperia X says "No SIM card inserted" (F5122)

I recently removed and inserted my SIM card. Since it never was able to connect to the cell provider, I went to Setting > SIM cards and unchecked the glowing dot next to it.

Suddenly the entry disappeared completely, leaving me with the screen just saying No SIM card inserted.

I tried rebooting, using different SIM cards from different providers that were working just fine, using the secondary SIM card slot, ... all to no avail.

So my final idea is that some config file must have been "damaged". I checked /default.prop and /etc/ofono/ril_subscription.conf, but they seem to be okay.

Where else could I investigate?

Any other ideas on how to rectify the issue (preferably without a factory reset) ?

# journalctl -u ofono

My phone had a similar issue and I was able to fix it by removing /var/lib/ofone (iirc) and recreating it with radio:radio as the owner, eg:

systemctl stop ofono.service
mv /var/lib/ofono{,.bck}
mkdir  /var/lib/ofono
chown -R radio:radio /var/lib/ofono
systemctl start ofono.service

(I think I rebooted as well for good measure...)

Same here - thanks a lot, rebooting, reinserting, flight mode... nothing did help... But this "workaround" did it

brilliant! thanks!

I've had similar problems since almost a year or so: sometimes when I open/wake the phone I have "No SIM card inserted" and need to reboot to get it back. A reboot always helps. I guess that rules out a hardware fault, though I have dropped the phone rather heavily in the floor several times. And though it's a comforting thought, in a way, that it's probably - hopefully - a software fault rather than malfunctioning hardware, it is frustrating to have to reboot every now and then (everything from 3 times a day to once a week). I do hope your workaround helps (I've just applied it). Thank you!

UPDATE 2020-01-29. The workaround seemed to do the trick, but after a week or so it was back to normal: loosing contact with the SIM card every now and then (up to a couple of times a day), seemingly at random, demanding a restart (which always helps). A week ago, I put a tiny, thin piece of plastic beneath the SIM card, to see if that would help. And it seems to do! I haven't had a single "No SIM card inserted..." since then. So, in my csse it might be hardware related after all.

it may be that you have to reflash android, try if the sim works there and afterwards reinstall sailfish again.
