Hi there

I have been running Sailfish since my first Jolla (The First One), then I bought a Jolla C (But my First on is still my favourite)....

No I want a new phone, but the Sony Xperia X is to large on my pockets, i want a smaller phone, so I have been searching for someone who tried to put Sailfish on the Sony Xperia X Compact?

Consider carrying your phone in a bag. Because it may not be health to keep a phone on your body (in a pocket). And size doesn't matter in this case.

Good joke, not everyone is wearing a bag.

I prefer smaller phones as well and I really thought about buying the Compact variant -- until I went to a shop and compared it to a full sized Xperia X in real life. The Compact is indeed smaller, but the downside is, it is much thicker and has sharp edges. I think the full sized model fits my pocket even better than the Compact! But YMMV...

True, Xperia X size is ok when we consider only a pocket but it's way different when you try to use the phone with one hand only.

I've developed a compatibility layer that permits to run official Sailfish X images on the Xperia X Compact.

I've been running it as my daily driver since April and it works fine, including OTAs and 3rd-party components like Alien Dalvik and Text Prediction.

More details on how it works and how to patch here: https://github.com/g7/sailfishx-patcher-f5321

Awesome- I don't have an X to get an official image from. Is there any non-sketchy way to use this to patch an image, and then share it? If not, I guess the only audience for this would be people who have both phones? If so, can you get me an X image? (unless this will work - http://images.devaamo.fi/sfe/suzu/). Also, 2.2.1 just released, going to support that too? Thanks for your work

The official Sailfish X image can be downloaded from the Jolla Shop, but you have to purchase a Sailfish X license.

Also, not sure how it behaves with the 2.2.1 images (the image hasn't been released yet, as it's in EA). But the OTA upgrade works fine, I'm running 2.2.1 currently on my daily driver.

Can't buy in US... Maybe some kind of location spoof would work or something.

If it is a community port, you will probably not have Alien Dalvik (Android layer). Just noting this.

Don't forget to vote for this thread, X Compact needs strong voice to convince Jolla there's enough interest in this phone to provide official port.

Mine too. Using it since October last year. Just great. @steph did a great job. I hope Jolla will support it officially as one of the next devices now that all sister devices (standard X and dual SIM X) are officially supported already.

Hello there. Did you notice some voice echoes during calls on Xperia Xc. Mostly, people which calls me, hear it. Something about it was mentioned here: https://together.jolla.com/question/204988/microphones-swapped-in-csd-tests-only-on-xperia-x-compact/ But no (other) solution. Pls, share your finding. Thanks.

Still no echo issues on mine. It is not that I'd be unfamiliar with it; I have experienced it in last 20 years with random feature phones as well as many smartphones. I personally think that echoing is more often caused by operator side gear, as when it happens it does not happen with every call and with everybody.

Yea, I had same experience / opinion, but with Xperia X compact it happens me with every call (callers said me about it). I tried switch 2G, 3G, 4G network, but mostly same problem occurs. That's why I tried to find people with similar problem like on previeous link ...

Ok, that sounds bad. :( For the reference mine is pretty vanilla in that I haven't installed any patches on it.
