If a publisher agrees on accepting cryptocurrency, say Bitcoin, it would open the possibility to avoid fiat currency with absurdly priced banking/credit card overhead costs altogether. Apps could become cheaper, more money for Jolla and for the publisher. win-win-win.

I'd rather count on a sane opensource community model. After all, the good thing about OSS is you can audit the code instead of relying on somebody promising something. I'm pretty sure the majority of closed source payed apps either don't respect user privacy or even make money with user data.

Applications can always be free, and then you can donate cryptocurrencies to the developer, like in bitpurse (hopefully soon to come to sailfish), but accepting cryptocurrencies directly in the store could attract more people and arise awereness of Sailfish. Maybe also irritate banks.
