Dear all,

during normal operation but under rather high load the screen turned black. Restart and battery removal didn't help. It seems that the phone itself is fully in operation apart from the screen: After starting I can ping the phone in the wireless LAN, messages (probably threema) are beeing received (sound on receive, blue LED flashing) and I can shutdown the phone by pressing the power button. Unfortunately I don't have SSH activated, so I can't get access to the phone.

Do you have any suggestions? Maybe backup via recovery mode and factory reset?

Thanks for help!

Sorry for not making this clear: From my point of view this is not a duplicate as my black screen

  • isn't related to a system update,
  • is completely black and doesn't show the Jolla logo,
  • isn't related to a certain app or making / receiving calls and
  • can't be resolved by a restart.

If these differences aren't significant I agree to closing this questions. Otherwise I'd be happy if you open it again.

Another comment: It might be related to a (nearly) full internal storage?

Thanks! Seems my questions has been reopened in the meantime. I think I'll try to identify a hardware defect and in case this doesn't help I'll try a factory reset. I'll let you know.

To close this question: As written in my last comment it seems to be a hardware defect on the main circuit board. I performed a factory reset via recovery mode but this didn't help ether...

Thank you all for your a assistance!

Had this too. It turned out that the display connector went loose after a pretty forceful drop onto the desk. Check the disassembly guide on ifixit and simply reseat the display connector. https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Jolla+Teardown/53435 You only have to remove the 11 T5 screws and the back frame, then gently push the connector(s) back in place and your display should work again. (check step 7 in the guide)

Unfortunately it is not just a loose connector, see my comment above linking these photos https://postimg.cc/gallery/1vd3ye57y/
