Phone number not registered in log when call fails

When you try to make a call by entering a phone number, phone number is not recorded in the call log if the call fails for some reason (No network coverage, happens all the time). What is worse is that the number that I typed after so much hard work is also lost, so I have to enter the number again and pray that it doesn't meet the same fate.
This is data loss and is biggest unforgivable sin in software industry (kidding).
But please take care of this.

Yes! I've stumbled on this bug two or three times but didn't come around to report it. It was present in 2.1 as well.
