[Request] MAP Bluetooth Profile
requesting for MAP bluetooth profile so that in-car headunit can read SMSes.
We have moved to a new Sailfish OS Forum. Please start new discussions there.
requesting for MAP bluetooth profile so that in-car headunit can read SMSes.
And even as extend wish: If the messaging app is not in "SMS-Mode" but using another chat-protocol like XMPP, please forward this as a regular SMS to the carkit. Just with a prefix [XMPP] or whatever chat-protocol is in use. For answers from the carkit the same protocol should be used.
So MAP-Support would also include chat-support for nearly every protocol for free. That should be an absolutely unique feature in the industry (and a selling point).

yes, I agree. Extremely useful and increasing security on the road if your car multimedia is capable of accessing messages via MAP and reading them aloud. Strongly desired, Jolla!
xenoide ( 2014-05-27 00:45:36 +0200 )editYes, I agree - this feature is absolutely needed. Old N9 had this feature, also. Though my Ford Sync was only able to load the first part (first 160 characters) of longer SMSes.

sbock ( 2014-07-22 18:50:57 +0200 )editAFAICS MAP (message access protocol) is supported in obexd 0.42 as shipped by SailfishOS 2.1.x, so in theory we shouldn't have to wait for bluez5 integration.
Not sure however which pieces are missing to have it access the SMS store.
