Followed the instructions thoroughly and did the sequence 4 times. Boot loops after the sony logo -> black screen with red / green led sequence.

I checked multiple times to use the right files.

Bundyo at tmo reports the same for H4413 https://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1550277&postcount=13

EDIT I flashed on Solus linux and got no error thrown https://pastebin.com/LdwsMxHU

EDIT 2 Solved for me with instructions below. Thanks a lot Sledges and other sailors for the long workday and fast solution!

With your help we've identified the issue with certain Xperia XA2 family devices entering a boot loop after flashing.

We apologise for this oversight that hadn't occurred in many of the devices we tested internally.

To attempt to fix this issue swiftly, we recommend you to execute commands below in the folder where you extracted your Sailfish image:

Linux / macOS

Ensure your fastboot version contains the set_active command (check via fastboot -h).
If not, try to obtain a binary that has (e.g. from here), or resort to the Windows method where we supply fastboot.exe in the image.

Execute the following:

sudo fastboot set_active _a

If above command fails with Could not get suffixes., try:

sudo fastboot set_active a

Upon success, execute:

sudo fastboot reboot

If you no longer get a bootloop, but still get stuck on the Sony logo, reflash with ./flash.sh

Windows

Press WinKey+R

In the Run dialog, enter cmd <enter></enter>

Type cd and then paste the address to your Sailfish folder (as per step 3.2 of the Sailfish X Windows Instructions)

Execute the following:

fastboot.exe set_active _a

If above command fails with Could not get suffixes., try:

fastboot.exe set_active a

Upon success, execute:

fastboot.exe reboot

If you no longer get a bootloop, but still get stuck on the Sony logo, reflash with flash-on-windows.bat

Thank you for your patience and support!

Hi and thanks! One question, when you write "execute the following", for windows 10, you mean "Press Shift, then right-click the folder background (not files) and select “Open PowerShell window here” (Windows 10)"? And then typing in this strange text window just "./fastboot.exe set_active _a"?

Yusssufff ( 2018-11-09 00:27:02 +0300 )

Seems to be working!

Bundyo ( 2018-11-09 00:46:17 +0300 )

Thanks to advice, but i cant find images for

Sailfish OS for Sony Xperia™ XA2 Dual SIM model (H4113)

but only for

Sailfish OS for Sony Xperia™ X Dual SIM model (F5122) Single SIM model (F5121)

What there is wrong in Jolla Shop? And can you fix this soon?

cme ( 2018-11-09 00:55:26 +0300 )

Hi! One question, when the phone (xa2) is just stuck with the sony logo (and in my case a windows 10), so concretely what should i start with? Switching off the stucked phone and then plugging it to the computer and then doing the commands in the files you suggest and then flash it again (on top of the stucked software)?

Yusssufff ( 2018-11-09 01:06:57 +0300 )

Yes, you power off the device (if needed force using keeping volume up and power pressed until the device vibrates 3 times in a short time, then release the buttons). After that boot the device to fastboot mode like you did when you flashed it the first time (found probably in the original installation instructions) and finally run the commands as instructed in the post above.

And updated method is available here, moving in order not to create confusion with the comments to this answer: https://together.jolla.com/question/192632/xa2-h4113-bootloops-after-flashing-trial-3008/?answer=192729#post-id-192729

Thx, the boot loop is gone. Unfortunately, my phone (xa2 h4113) seems to get stuck while showing the sony logo (small led next to speaker is white [or cyan]).

nop ( 2018-11-08 21:04:25 +0300 )

I have the same experience as nop - it now hangs at the white sony logo page and shows a white/cyan led. It responds to the on/off button -> led became red and shut down. No more reboots.... that's true ;-) (H4113)

robertish ( 2018-11-08 21:11:43 +0300 )

No bootloop anymore, but phone is stuck in displaying sony logo screen with violet indicator led.

Anakki ( 2018-11-08 21:16:22 +0300 )

Same experience as nop and robertish, except my LED is magenta in colour.

same here :(

If your device is in a bootloop. Can you please get the following information and paste it here?

sudo fastboot getvar all

Note: This might contain your serial number. You can remove that from the paste :)

From: https://together.jolla.com/question/191509/release-notes-300-lemmenjoki/

NOTE: Too many failures in installing Sailfish OS to Xperia XA2 devices have been reported tonight (Nov 8th). These devices fail to boot up after a seemingly successful flashing. Please consider postponing the flashing of Sailfish X to XA2 until we know better the error mechanism and have been able to eliminate it. This would probably save you from unnecessary harm. Apologies for all this.

Xa2 single sim Flashed with macOS, works great

phgerin ( 2018-11-08 18:08:45 +0300 )

And somebody with linux? :D I dont rly want to try it when there is 100% chance of boot loop :D

Huholoman ( 2018-11-08 18:21:12 +0300 )

Yes: flashed single SIM XA2 with Arch Linux. Works great. Hope, that paid content (AlienD, Exchange) will be available soon.

Caluna ( 2018-11-08 18:45:59 +0300 )

Flashed with windows. No issues at all.

It seems the problem occurs simply because the XA2 has two boot slots (A/B) and both needs to be flashed with hybris-boot.img. If the second boot slot is active by accident but no hybris-boot is present -> the device bootloops

J4ZZ ( 2018-11-08 21:08:33 +0300 )

Installed SFOS 3 for XA2 yesterday (8-11-2018) during the presentation meeting to my XA2 (single SIM, H3313). The first time, the phone was stuck with the Sony logo. I turned the phone into fastboot again, flashed it with the exact same binaries and Sailfish 3 booted...

Seems that the dual-sim image is faulty. Try flashing the single SIM version (H3113), see above, while waiting for a fix. (you most probably need reflash it with dual-sim when that is fixed).

Mohjive ( 2018-11-08 19:26:55 +0300 )

Hello thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately it is not synonymous. The same, Sonny logo and nothing happened. I'm sorry for my bad english

Rene666 ( 2018-11-08 19:59:14 +0300 )

Maybe a dumb question -- What's the worst thing that could happen when flashing the single sim (h3113) version on a dual sim (h4113) device? Will it brick or will I still be able to reflash it again? Thx in advance.

nop ( 2018-11-08 20:03:43 +0300 )

The device is nearly unbrickable regarding software. You can always get into flash mode or fastboot mode even with a broken damaged system. :)

J4ZZ ( 2018-11-08 21:12:20 +0300 )

@J4ZZ thanks for clarification :) didn't know that
