If you came from Android you know how powerfull widgets are. Combining Android-like widgets with the nice UI of Jolla could be a very powerfull tool. I imagine a layer like MacOS X Dashboard offers. For example if you swipe from left to right in any application you can access a screen with widgets you can scroll vertical.

I for one am missing widgets & multiple homescreens from android and I'm finding Saifish's home screen (active cover view) very limited. This is because at the end of the day active covers in the home screen are just the apps you are running at the time (multitask view).

Only solution/idea I have would be simply to have to option to swipe from left-to-right / right-to-left for multiple homescreens that you could freely customize adding widgets & direct dials.

I had the same idea.Swiping from right or left both give 'only' the possibility to select an ambience. Would be nice if at least one of the gestures would lead to a widget screen with calendar view, weather etc.

The application cover provides already similar functionality of a widget.

Similar but not the same. For example the e-mail cover: You can see how many unread e-mails you have and when you got the last one. But there is no "preview". With a widget you could solve this problem. Or the covers should be editable...

And is there a option to make a cover "sticky" so it would load automatically and keep it's position? I think covers functionality could be enough but I'd like to make some of them stick and maybe have some more info shown as a widget.

We've been discussing the upcoming Jolla Tablet over on the Maemo forums, and the issue of widgets came up. With the extra real estate the tablet offers, allowing some Android-like widgets would be nice. And in particular, I'd love to see something like the Mac OS Dashboard implemented to do it -- I've grown to appreciate the idea of isolating all your widgets into a single view that can be hidden away. :)

And, you could use something like this to run Android widgets on Sailfish...

If folks here don't mind, I'd like to add the "feature-request" tag to this question, which is (I think) the current way to request new features.
