I found the following deleted question, which is exactly my problem: Ok, tried the search, but didn´t find an answer… I downloaded the fixed files for XA2 dual sim, installation went smoothly, booted up the phone fine. First use demo, the one that teaches you how to use it gets stuck on People. After clicking the People icon, one cannot swipe back left or right to continue. There is no option to skip the demo. Ideas?

I had the same problem, but after some tries it worked. The swipe that worked was from the right edge (a little lower than middle) to the center of the screen but that could be coincidental.
Just try some time from different positions and it will eventually work...
It requires an edge swipe. I went through the tutorialon Xperia XA2 Ultra twice just now, and it worked the first time both times, once from left and once from right.
Can you edge swipe in normal use correctly? If not, you can check the touch display using CSD tool.

Edit: I just tried it a few times (only peeked) and it worked ~20 times and all of a sudden it stopped working. I tried at least 6 times and then suddenly it worked again. No Idea if it's a bug of the tutorial app. Weird.

I asked this before but deleted my question as the answer was too simple.
I had a cover on, and opening the side of it allowed me to swipe from exact beginning of the screen. Funnily enough, similar swipimg problems never occurred after that, even with plastic/leather cover on. Perhaps the demo is set up for uncovered phone..?
