[3.0.0.8] Jolla1 USB On-The-Go / OTG [answered]

On the Xperia X phone mounting an USB storage or a keyboard works but the same does not apply to the Jolla1 phone. Are there any limitation about the USB OTG functionality (both phones on 3.0.0.8)?

The hardware for OTG is not present on Jolla1, I have no idea about XperiaX as I don't own one.

@Edz, these two links to the related questions are very old. Maybe the Jolla guys forgot it when they wrote, that OTG works now. Also maybe in the world of Jolla Ltd there is no more Jolla1 alive. They got no spare batteries approved.

@ThomasT - I don't know where you are getting your information from, but OTG does not exist in Jolla1.

Also, if Jolla1 is not in the world of Jolla LTD, then why are they still producing OS updates for it?, and what do batteries have to do with USB-OTG?, perhaps I misunderstand you, but personally, I don't think you know what you're talking about and to be sure, I have just found my OTG USB cable from my Nokia days and as I thought, nothing is detected when plugged into Jolla1.

I'm also happy to be proven wrong on any level.

Hello Edz, thanks for your answer. I know OTG on Jolla1 does not work due to hardware limitations. In your first link there is a very good description. I only wondered about the announcement of Jolla about OTG. In my view, they should not say that it works for all phones. And I was wondering why they say that. Maybe ... (insert my post here). On the other hand - you are right - the battery has nothing to do with OTG. Except for the question: Why does not Jolla give us advice for a replacement battery? Maybe ... (insert my post here). So you see, I'm a bit angry.

@ThomasT - Where is this announcement from Jolla about OTG-USB working on all devices....?

I do agree regarding the battery situation of Jolla1 and the same now applies to JollaC and the advice, if any, is very, very thin on the ground, but the community did a great job of rounding up the different batteries that can be used in Jolla1. As I own 2 x Jolla1, I wanted to make sure I have some spare batteries, I have 3 non-Jolla branded batteries, Patona, Polarcell and GT-Iron plus my existing Jolla batteries. The Jolla1 was built using battery design originally destined for the HTC 310.

The community was quite angry initially and we let Jolla know we were not happy, they did eventually get another batch of batteries manufactured but from the point of announcing that Jolla Shop now has a limited stock, they sold out in 2 hours ~ I was at work and had no mobile signal, so I missed out.

I refer to the statements of Sami Pienimäki (https://blog.jolla.com/sailfish3/). As long as a feature is not excluded for special devices, it is included. It is not up to me to examine every single statement for its truth content. It would have been easy to say OTG works, except for Jolla1.
