"Positive News"-time:

I am sure everyone has a bunch of native apps which simply work brilliantly on Sailfish OS and bring out the best of it for whatever reason. Let's share those and praise its devs. Maybe you'll discover a beautiful app you haven't heard of yet, making the daily use of SFOS a greater joy.

@pawel I agree. And wiki style answers for poll like questions for this, IMO.

  • Sailsync ownCloud - Nextcloud folder synchronization - link
  • ownKeepass - keepass compatible password manager - link
  • Notizen.md - markdown notes application - link
  • Fuoten - RSS news reader to be used with Nextcloud's News app - link

These four apps are very well suited for using Owncloud/Nextcloud with Sailfish OS!

  • Wunderfitz - offline dictionary for dict.cc - link
  • Voyager- together.jolla.com client - link
  • SailOTP - one time password generator - link
  • Spritradar - online price check for petrol stations - link
  • Laufhelden - tracking of sports activities with basic Strava integration - link
  • QuasarMX - comprehensive music player - link, link
  • As others already mentioned: Situations, Pure Maps, Fahrplan

Some of these apps may be also found in the official Jolla store. All of them work very well, and seem to be still maintained! Many thanks to the developers!

I'll start myself with the following apps:

  • Fahrplan: Insanely fast and practical public transport app. Just has what it needs, nothing more nothing less.
  • Stellarium: Beautiful for watching night skies.
  • Situations: Makes your smartphone smarter.
  • Pure maps: Made here maps obsolete for me. Detects GPS signal much faster than other apps.
  • Nightly clock: Advanced alarm features which the Jolla "Clock" doesn't provide.
  • Zaster Banker: Basic native "passive" banking, yay!

+1 for Pure Maps, Situations, and Fahrplan!

ziellos ( 2019-02-19 15:50:53 +0300 )edit

Just found out by reading this answer that Stellarium for SFOS exists. Awesome! Is it somehow possible to zoom with two fingers gesture?

Is Pure Maps on the Jolla store or through Storeman? I don't find anything when searching for 'pure' and only Here and OSM Scout show up when searching for 'maps'.

@sunburnedpenguin: while OSM scout server (the background provider for offline maps) is available on the Jolla store, Pure maps has to be downloaded via Storeman from openrepos. However, openrepos packages may be preferable in some cases because they may provide more functionality or newer versions.

  • storeman- an OpenRepos.net client, i.e. an unofficial store for native sailfish apps, many of them still under development. I wonder why this wasn't mentioned first.

  • PassViewer - Viewer for PassBook files (like boarding passes).

  • Talefish - audio book player

  • Messwerk - Display of sensor data

  • Lighthouse - System monitor

  • Integral, Limit and Derivative - Sympy based calculators

+1 for Talefish, I just love it and use it every day!

+1 for PassViewer! Just used it this weekend. :)

Integral, Limit and Derivative could no longer be installed in SFOS3.2.0.12 because of missing dependencies required by sympy-0.7.6.1 [python(abi)=3.4].

So many regressions with every OS "upgrade" :-(

  • Situations (as others mentioned): automated behaviours based on different highly customisable situations. I just miss the silica gui to be perfect.
  • Euroconverter: extremely fast using official ECB rates.
  • Thao translator: excellent translator
  • Foilpics: encrypts pictures. works like a charm.
  • Puremaps (as others mentioned): excellent maps tool.

These native apps are what makes an incredible user experience that makes me stick to sailfish os. No bloatware, no marketing, privacy. Long life to sailfish os!!!

I doubt that you haven't heard of it yet, but for me the one app I use more than any other is Tidings for RSS feeds.

For me Fuoten does the job, together with the News app on my Nextcloud server.

Where can I find Telegra'me? It's not in Jolla Store nor in Storeman...

Cryx ( 2019-02-20 19:57:29 +0300 )edit

Telegra'me has not reached v1.0 yet and therefore is not widely published (but It's probably already the most complete client). You have to join the developer's Telegram group to be able to download the RPM.

spag ( 2019-02-20 20:40:58 +0300 )edit

I've tried Depecher and Telegra'me and, probably because the latter it's still unreleased, I definitely prefer Depecher
