Let's share incoming news and thoughts about Jolla's participation this year.

First news I have, although not strictly from MWC: from Jala facebook page (Jala = bolivian tech industry supporting Jolla in latin america), they stated they're starting officially to support beta SFOS versions on their Accione P phones.

Jala, luego de un año de trabajo colaborativo de su equipo de ingenieros y Jolla Ltd. fabricante del sistema operativo Sailfish para dispositivos móviles, dará inicio A UNA PRUEBA BETA [...] a partir del 4 de marzo, visitando nuestros centros de experiencia, de esta manera el público en general tendrá la oportunidad de conocer más de Sailfish orientado a uso corporativo en su entorno de mayor seguridad y privacidad.

En la prueba solo participará el modelo ACCIONE P Agradecemos ser parte de esta experiencia.

Jala, following a year of collaborations of its engineers and Jolla Ltd. producer of Sailfish OS for mobiles, will begin a BETA PROOF [...] startin 4th of May, visiting our experience centers, so that this way the general public will have the chance to know more about Sailfish corporative-oriented and its secure and privacy respectful enviroment.

Only the ACCIONE P models will take part in the test. Thanks for being part of this.

Here is the Jala announcement on twitter: https://twitter.com/Accione_Jala/status/1099071401389105152 It calls for beta testers to visit stores in bolivia to get a beta of SFOS flashed. I own an Accione P and am waiting for instructions how to flash/install it without visiting bolivia.

No direct relation to MWC as of now though. Maybe we will see an official mention later?

Pretty poor I would say. So much hype was arround the MWC19 and the only news is beta support. I think all the sailfish X Versions that are out there will for ever stay BETA, because Jolla does not have the time and the resources to finish the job propperly. Xperia X is stil beta for me. A complete OS does not have so many bugs. That is the sad truth dear friends. While I understand Jolla has to do bigger tasks for others to earn some money, I dont understand why this beta stuff should attract new customers in any way... Jolla change that please and get the stupid roaming and connectivity problems solved in the first place!

Make it like Apple! Sell old hardware with old OS and a high price :-)) The IPhone OS has many problems too. After automatic update the calling was frozen. (Summer 2018) Jolla you make a good job! I can accept the little bugs if there eleminate in a futured workaround.

again an impatient person...Please don't exaggerate.
shows like mwc is just to show what they can do.
All device are operable in mwc, thus is successful.
Please differentiate goals for shows like mwc, and goals for the worldwide public.
For 1st The one, device may be not finished to 100%, they just have to show the potential.
The 2nd one should be finished near of 100%. 100% will be never reached, because of bugs architecture problem, design failures.
Do you think that all the folded devices from samsung and other one are not in beta phase? you're kidding right? all new devices there are not completelly released.
That's just for the show....

Impatien person? Lol! No. 1. I give a damn crap about foldable overprised garbage. 2. Im with Jolla since Jolla1... Im not awaiting 100% but 95-98% would be great and acceptable after a year of betatesting. we have 80% and payed for that separately... Please drive a car that is 80% finished... Sure potential here and there... What ever. After a year of unusable roaming and sh...y network connections with unfinished bluetooth support etc. There schould be a time where Jolla can show us not more potential on other devices, but fulfil the potential to the maximum for their beloved customers and supporters. Otherwise they will never reach a wider range of customers than us hardcorefans... But we are few, compared to the potential out there... (just to use the word "potential" again...)

P.S. Livespan of a phonehardware? 2-4 years if you are carefull and have spareparts? Sailfis X is already a year old... Just saying. My xperia X is dying already... Changed cameramodule and now the earphonejack behaves strange. (my new XA2 is waiting for a somhow usable beta 2.0 version)

please speak for you but not as generality
And 'm sorry but as beta tester i find chocking that you talk like that. you've choose this stand by choosing beta testing.
Help improvement by testing fresh things which has'nt be strongly tested
as beta tester i'm pretty sure that we could expect the 50-75%. That's why i never choose to do it, because i can't live good with it
And I'm not a beta tester. And with my jolla1 i'm on the 98%. you can imagine that i'm satisfied
No problem withg roaming and bluetooth.
What do you tell now?

Thus, in your condition, that you choose beta tester, Why should we benefit of your nonconstructive and pathetic humor or reaction?
If you'll bring some facts and argumentation, right we could discuss on it. but here... i try to stay polite
That's your problem, if you're not satisfied with it, change back to normal user. beta tester it's not your thing. That will change your life, believe me

With or without Alien Dalvik?

Personally, I hope a lot from the Livermorium project: better form factor than Gemini/Cosmo (but maybe not so good keyboard layout) that will be truly usable as a phone, like the famous and so regretted Nokia N900. https://www.xda-developers.com/livermorium-qwerty-keyboard-smartphone/

It is a multiboot device so i guess there is not much intention to get an Android Layer into sfos on GPDA? The press release stats you pay for special features but Android Layer is not mentioned: "The official Sailfish X software package features a suite of advanced functions, including seamless over-the-air (OTA) OS updates, Jolla Store access, end-user support, Microsoft Exchange support and, crucially for Gemini users, support for landscape user-interface (UI)"

@mosen Multiboot is not a good argument for not including an Android emulation layer - do you really want to reboot every time you want to use an Android app ? Not to mention keeping data in sync in such a case, etc.

Agreed @MartinK. I am obviously only guessing for arguments why the effort to specially adapt an Android Layer to GPDA supersedes the "return".
