Hi,

I am trying to boot Xperia XA2 Plus into recovery mode using this guide https://jolla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002996893-Xperia-X-devices-How-to-use-the-Recovery-Mode. Unfortunately every time i do "fastboot boot hybris-recovery.img" nothing happens. Everything I see in the console is "Sending boot.img" forever. Fastboot is at the newest version.

Can somebody help me ?

It seems that the Xperia as some problems with a USB3 port, try to it to a USB2 port on the computer.

It looks like this "Input/output error /dev/mmcblk0rpmb" has nothing to do with resize2fs segmentation fault. But I am stuck now.

OK, so everything is clear now for me with recovery mode :

  1. Use computer with USB2 not USB3.
  2. Segmentation fault was caused by trying to shrink filesystem to 10G (resize2fs /dev/sailfish/home 10G) when I shrank it to 5G everything went fine (resize2fs /dev/sailfish/home 5G). Probably some bug.

One more question guys - how did you manage to flash hybris-recovery.img ? When I try to do it (fastboot flash recovery hybris-recovery.img) I get "no such partition".

You can read in the guide at zendesk as second note:

NOTE: We do not have the instructions for Xperia XA2 yet.

Thanks. Didn't noticed that.

You need a computer. Connect the phone in fastboot mode and boot the hybris recovery image via fastboot.

I wasn't able to flash the recovery image for good to my phone though.

Thanks Manu007 - I already figured that out. Indeed on a laptop with USB2 everything went well and I could boot to recovery. I was going to resize my system partition but I encountered following problem after entering shell:

Type the number of the desired action and press [Enter]: 3

If you continue, this may void your warranty. Are you really SURE? [y/N] y /dev/mmcblk0rpmb: read failed after 0 of 4096 at 0: Input/output error /dev/mmcblk0rpmb: read failed after 0 of 4096 at 4128768: Input/output error /dev/mmcblk0rpmb: read failed after 0 of 4096 at 4186112: Input/output error /dev/mmcblk0rpmb: read failed after 0 of 4096 at 4096: Input/output error 2 logical volume(s) in volume group "sailfish" now active

When I tried to resize the filesystem resize2fs segfaulted on me:

resize2fs /dev/sailfish/home 10G resize2fs 1.43.1 (08-Jun-2016) Resizing the filesystem on /dev/sailfish/home to 2621440 (4k) blocks. Segmentation fault

Any ideas ?
