Now, I know Firefox Sync on SailfishOS beta for the XA2 is known not to work. However, I had some hopes the latest update would fix it (Hossa, 3.0.3.8).

Has anyone been able to get it working? Perhaps with some hacks on the commandline?

Will all the bug fixing going on this is one of the last 'big' things for me while using the phone as a daily driver. (Well, a native Firefox would be awesome.)

edit: enabling sync for the preview of the new Firefox Fenix browser does work :-D

It's not really a workaround, more a kludge until Sync actually works:

You can manually copy your own signons.sqlite and key4.db (from another Firefox installation, say: your desktop, another android device, an older Sailfish device whose Sync did work, etc.) into /home/.android/data/data/org.mozilla.firefox/files/mozilla/{profile}.default/. (You need to either stop Firefox from Sailfish OS' Settings -> Apps, or shut down the whole Android app layer entirely first).

Just make sure that the UID and GID match. (e.g.: use ls -l to display the details of the rest of this directory's content, pay attention to the numbers, and then chown 10084:10084 signons.sqlite key4.db. Then restart Firefox. Or restart the whole Android layer).

This doesn't solve your problem of sync not working, but in the meantime gives you temporary access to your saved logins.

You can do simlar with your history, bookmarks, etc. depending on your needs.(Just remember to shut down, copy, chown, restart).

Is there any update on that issue? I'm trying to sync Firefox mobile 67 (Fennec edition) on a XA2 device with Firefox 68 on ubuntu. On ubuntu I can see my device, but I can't share any web tab or anything else.

Still not working on Sailfish 3.2

I've tried with any android version of Firefox (Normal, Waterfox, Fenix) and it seems not working at all. It's a shame, because I really use that function and, unfortunately, the sailfish browser is broken, and doesn't support the sync function at all. I really hope we'll have a native Linux mobile Firefox one day!!
