Hi

Please be gentle. I´ve never done anything to a mobile phone previously!

I have already installed the free version 3.0 on an XA2 a few weeks ago, and now want to install the licensed version, which I have downloaded. Do I just repeat the whole process of install exactly as I did to put the free version on - barring all the unlock bootloader bit as it is already unlocked?

Also, with the free version when I turn the phone on it says: your bootloader is unlocked.

How do I lock it after I have installed Sailfish?

Many thanks

The version is exactly the same and you don't need to reinstall anything. The license is stored in the Jolla account, which you must log in to on the phone (Settings->Accounts->Jolla). Once done that, you will get the paid apps in the store (predictive text input, Microsoft Exchange support and Android support) and you will be able to install them from there. As for the bootloader, you cannot lock it unless you restore the vendor image.

@Giacomo Di Giacomo that is a question that i tell myself. to install sfos, we need to unlock the bootloader. After install it, it there really no way to lock again? if answer is no, could you please tell why?

The locked bootloader ensures the ROM is vendor-controlled. You cannot lock it unless it has a vendor-controlled ROM, so you need to reflash the original ROM before locking it back (and you will lose DRM keys anyway).

Thanks for the reply.

In Settings, I do not have anything that says Accounts.....

(Or do you mean, log in to the website from the phone, rather than look in Settings on the actual device?)

Update: I have tried going to the Jolla site on the phone browser and logging in, but I cannot see Accounts anywhere. I am sorry to be so dim!

"Accounts" is at the very bottom of the phone's settings menu.

Indeed - still not sure why those two (apps and accounts) are different (aligned right)than any other settings (aligned left) ?

@Tinybit That menu design still stems from MeeGo Harmattan and the Nokia N9, Jolla left it untouched so far.

Set up an account Go to Settings | Accounts, then pull down to add an account. Tap the account you want to set up.

Long tap on an account to remove it - there's a countdown before the account is actually removed.

Note to anybody else starting from scratch who isn't a mobile developer... Look down, keep looking down and then realise that Sailfish has a very clever way of keeping the screen clean. Zero clutter.

R. E. A. D. And then click the + next to Accounts, after Apps.

Thank You all. This takes some getting used to. (But, I'm going to change the theme as much as I like the Northern Lights, I'm missing really vital stuff here simply because it's hard to see against the background!)

I need, against my better judgement, to put an Android app on this sweet thing. New question I guess. Thanks all.

I don't know where to put this but I'm handing it in as homework...

Have you already installed the Sailfish OS on a device?

And purchased the licence?

Great!

All you need to do now is:

Log Into your Sailfish device and go to Settings. Then scroll down. DOWN. Right down...

See where it says Apps + Accounts +

Click on the + by Accounts

Log in to the account where you purchased your Sailfish OS licence for this device, fill in your details...

[And then, a unicorn will appear bearing tokens for the next stage of the game. Or something. Where's the Android Support etc, folks pls?! ]
