Ability to bind a cover

Hi,
Sailfish’s multitasking feature is pretty useful, but especially when booting a phone, it gets cumbersome as you need to always open the same programs again and again. Sometimes one wants to just have a program open for notifications or some background run, sometimes it’s a news application one frequently uses or maybe for instant messaging. Add need to reorder the covers if one wants to preserve same order, and it gets annoying fast.
One way to make it easier for an user, it would be really useful if one could ”bind” the cover, so it would stay in its place even if the application gets closed.
A way to achieve this, that came to my mind, would be by long-pressing the cover (how the application can be shut down now), and there would be an option to bind the cover in addition to close it.
This would be useful. I restart Xperia X every other day to get Android apps notifications work.

And I don't see this as a duplicate since this doesn't apply/involve autostarting the apps, just the cover "images" would be shown. How I at least understand the request is that the app would only start when tapping on the cover on a fresh boot situation.
raketti ( 2019-06-06 13:08:21 +0300 )editThat doesn't make sense at all. What you call a "cover" is the app. Either you autostart apps (which is the useful solution) or you don't. If you don't, the "cover" has no functionality. No messages will be received etc.

So closing the app would just leave the cover visible (as on some occasions happens now). I do agree, that having just the cover serves no other purpose that a place holder. And I think we're quite far from getting the option to autostart an application for the harbour apps, others already handle this through daemons (which is a bit against the SFOS app philosophy - you either have the app open (cover visible) or you don't).
