After the Android camera and photo album were deleted, I have thought that the Android software would evoke the sailfish camera and photo album, but when I clicked the camera and album buttons to upload the image in some Android app like imstagram lite, nothing happened and I could not upload the image.

So, you can't access gallery nor take photos using Instagram? If so please change the question title accordingly.

I assume you are using 3.1.0 since you mentioned deleted gallery and camera apps. Have you tried removing and re-installing Instagram? Are the applications permissions right? Can you take photos using Jolla Camera app? What version on Instagram app you are using?

This issue is worse in some cases. For my example, I need to use Chromium as my web browser to gather photos and upload them. However, the changes to Alien Dalvik mean I can't invoke the Sailfish camera, photos do not transfer to the basic gallery thing they give you, and attempting to "Browse" just crashes Chromium. This also has a negative effect on using Keepass2Android, where it's not possible to open a KDBX file as RW because it still follows Kit Kat rules, and Android's file structure is aggravating to say the least.

most of the "can't take photo" problens, in my experience, boil down to one application grabbing the camera and not releasing it.

By increasing kevel of aggressivity:

  • just try starting the native Sailfish Photo app. ( <- every once in a bluemoon, it's enough)
  • close or force stop any Android applications that might be grabbing the camera.
  • stop and restart AlienDalvik ( <- almost always works)
  • reboot the whole phone

Now if you're using some application in combination with microG: these applications might rely on some functions that are only available in the genuine Google Play Service and are still missing in the opensource microG reimplementation.

In that case you'd need to either switch to the proprietary Google blob, or patiently wait until Mar-v-in implements it.
