Creating first SMS to contact alternate number doesn't show thread

When a contact has multiple numbers, all SMS are collected to one thread, independent on what number they are sent to/received from.
However, first SMS to a specific number doesn't show the old thread, but only an empty screen with the inputfield for the new SMS. Any following new SMS to the same number will show the unified thread view as expected.
