QuickCharge 3.0 with Xperia XA2 Plus keeps notifying "Charging"

Xperia XA2 Plus with Sailfish 3.1.0.11

Plugging the phone to a QuickCharge 3.0 enabled charger makes the phone cycle through the "Charging" notification and the charging sound every 10 seconds. It eventually stops, but it keeps beeping for several minutes. Tried 2 different brands of QC3.0 chargers with the supplied cables.

This does not happen on a non-QuickCharge charger.

Sounds similar to this: https://together.jolla.com/question/198472/can-not-use-quickcharge-2-charger-on-xa2/

And if you install some battery/charge monitoring app, you'll see the details (in Charge-monitor's case the info is on the right page): the phone seems to have trouble negociating USBHVC (high-voltage-charging, i.e.: requesting that the charger provides 9v instead of the usual 5v).

So yes, it's definitely similar.

I can confirm this, but I have additional details based on my own experiences: If I use long cable (around 2 m) or weaker (<18 W) charger, I have this issue, but most of the time I get up to 3 notification. If I get more than 3, it's very likely, that the charging process is lagging. You can check charging speed with AIDA64.

Reading the other answers the problem is the communication between the device and the charger. The device asks for 9 V, the charger tries to provide it, but because the cable has higher resistance (slimmer and/or longer than usual one) it refuses that, then switches back to 5 V, then it starts over and over again. It's just my quick theory, but I don't have any better idea what could cause this.

edit: I have an USB-PD charger, and I can confirm, that the charging process works good with that (probably because of the bigger power)
