Location on but not shown in homescreen shortcuts
Hey sailors,
i realized that sometimes the location is switched on, but not shown in the shortcutlist on the home screen. I don't actually remember that i switched it on, but maybe it was activated by an app that i used before, nevertheless the only reason i discovered that the location service is on, was due to the activated location sign in the pulldown menu, the homescreen didn't show anything. I find this a privacy risk, as i might sometimes want to use location service, but not use it the whole time. You usually look more often on your homescreen and would realize the location symbol as you also do for the bluetooth or the network symbol. I think this is just a bug, and could probably be solved easily. Thanks!
AFAIK the location symbol is only shown when an app is actually using the location service. I agree and it could be drawn something like half transparent or invers as long as it's not in use but activated.
PS: What you call homescreen shortcuts are no shortcuts. I would call it something like state/status line/bar.

And having the status icon active only when apps are currently using it is a super useful information, I wouldn't change the behaviour (isn't it the same on Android btw?)
Sthocs ( 2019-09-23 20:35:06 +0200 )editJust tried that (latest version on Xperia X): turn on location (high position accuracy): no icon in status bar. started here: icon appears blinking. closed here: icon disappears. Same for HuD (native app that uses gps)
indeed apps cannot start gps, but they can use the position service which is indicated with the icon
