I would like to run sailfish on latest phone hardware and on a tablet!

I own a Jolla 1 and a sony xperia phone. But both phones hardware is outdated. Will there be uptodate hardeware supported soon? I can not imagine all Jolla employer use these old hardeware. Do they use iphones or android? How about tablets. I wiuld like to buy a new tablet with good hardware but it should run sailfish. I do not mind spending 500 or more dollars for a device, but I do mind whixh system does run on it.

Just because HW is 3 years old doesn't mean it can't get things done.

SFOS being mostly clean Linux actually runs really nice on the 3GB and 6 cores it has on the Xperia X, the camera module in the X is also really good though we don't get the full benefit due to proprietary driver issues.

Sadly all the "newer" phones that are supported (or rumored to will be supported) in addition to the X (the XA2 and the ?10?) offer no significant benefit over the Xperia X (actually they lack features as compared to the X since the X was a top model when it was released while they are mid-rangers).

Which features do XA2 and 10 exactly lack in comparison to X? They've got newer more efficient SoC, more memory... which hardware features are you talking about?

@Nautilus either you are being sarcastic or you never compared the specs of these devices:

SoC - all the same family and according to the benchmarks the X outperforms both the XA2 and the 10 (though by small margins)
Memory - all devices have 3GB RAM (the 10 does have a 4GB model though)

As far as actual features go:

The X has the highest quality screen of the devices mentioned.
The X has stereo speakers
The X weighs less, has more sensors and seemingly has a better camera (though we anyhow don't get to benefit from that)

PINE64 is releasing two simple devices that still are interesting, the PinePhone and PineTab. Both have similar hardware that isn't that impressing in any sense except one. These are not converted android devices but built for Linux. All circuits have native drivers. The prices are right too.

Agreed regarding diligence,. ..but the title of your linked post could be a little less.....complicated...by that I mean making the question easier to search in the first place. As we all come from different countries, some language conversions to English don't always translate.......perhaps something simple like "Current devices that run SFOS" and go into a little more detail right underneath..."Legacy, now & rumored" (or rumoured) and as many of us know, the search utility isn't always helpful.

Just a suggestion . . .

@Edz, that title is the result of cramming in as many terms relevant for searching as possible ... for it being easier to find with askbot's mediocre search!
As searching for "available devices", "legacy devices" and adding "Sailfish OS" shall result in hits, this was the best title I could think of when expanding it after failing to find it so many times. Finding it definitely has become easier since then, at least for me.
