Jolla, what is wrong with you? [not a question]
I have recently updated by Sailfish X to 3.2.0.12 and I have to admit that I really detest the changes made in the UI. The "X" button when deleting e.g. message or contact history simply looks ugly, so does the conversation view after changes in the previous update. If you really want to look like Android, why do you continue to develop own OS? On the other hand, if you are somehow enforced to implement such changes, provide the patches to look like Sailfish 1, which was the most beautiful OS I've ever seen.
Nonetheless, I am very satisfied, that at least after the update the mobile connection finally works as it should. Maybe if you focused on several issues and stop wasting time on damaging the UI, it would be solved much faster.
True words. Updates should generally be more frequent and Jolla should focus on a few important issues each update. Backend should outrank UI. UI is secondary.
daywalker ( 2019-11-08 09:49:56 +0200 )editUnfortunately this is Jolla's problem for couple of years now. All competent designers already left the company (or were fired during financial troubles?) and it is visible in every "new" release. There seems to be no innovation, just copying others...
sepuka ( 2019-11-08 09:57:39 +0200 )editI think Jolla wants to ease ux adaption for android users with this step. There should be a setting where the user could choose between sexy 'pure minimalistic jolla gesture control' and 'ugly android like button based control' 😆 ... but this would mean a hell lot of work, just fantasizing...
daywalker ( 2019-11-08 10:02:25 +0200 )editI just add some of @Ancelad's patches to get the classic unlike look back and feature wise 3.2.0.12 is a step forward. Would be great if they integrated some UI design features into their ambiences so this concept would make some more sense.
danfin ( 2019-11-08 10:25:44 +0200 )editI like the conversations view (you mean the Messages app, right?), but that X on Remorse Items is just totally out of place. It's not a desktop application! Add some hint to indicate it's swipeable (is that a word?)
But other than that I think it's an amazing release. Very smooth.
