This is not a bug. On smaller screens more characters are "dotted" out to have proper letter size on the sidebar. This is how it looks on the smaller size JP1:
Thanks for clearing that out @martonmiklos. Stupid feature in my opinion. It's a scroll page anyway.
eson ( 2019-11-23 09:10:51 +0300 )At first look I also thought wtf.
But if you take a deeper look it is a well-designed feature.
Turn your device from portrait to landscape and you will notice less letters and more dots.
And this bar is not only for touching but also sliding. This way you can reach every starting letter.
peterleinchen ( 2019-11-23 11:28:17 +0300 )Uhh...? There's landscape mode in People? That must be were the bug is in my phone then. Can't get it into landscape mode at all.
eson ( 2019-11-23 14:12:18 +0300 )No, not a bug. A patch (allow any orientation) :)
I am still so used (and do not want to let go off) using phone in landscape mode. So this patch by coderus is a must-have.
It just shows that this feature works for every screen size.

I just checked, and same here. I bet there's some fancy design decision behind it ;)
Tanghus ( 2019-11-22 16:19:04 +0300 )I still have J and K but I am missing H. Wanna trade?
potski ( 2019-11-22 16:52:55 +0300 )No H here, or DEHILMPUV. But of you tap on the dot in between, you get scrolled to the approximate position.
Tanghus ( 2019-11-22 17:17:44 +0300 )There could be something clever, if for each language you take the statistical probability that a name starts with a certain letter - but it doesn't seem to be the case here.
Tanghus ( 2019-11-22 17:21:41 +0300 )I think I had this behaviour already in 3.1, but the letters missing changed again.
