i would like to close app that is on multitask screen by selecting it (long press) and then pulling it down. longer pull would close all apps.

If two different kind of pulls could be recognized (short and long) could the other be used as close action? how about pinching title to close it?

Consistency - the 'x' should be changed to a cover-action on the task-manager-screen.
@chemist i don't mean to be irritating, though i'm possibly not being clear enough. I agree that the x could better be a cover-action, instead of a button. additionally i feel that closing an app should have a remorse timer and that remorse timer should also appear if you're running that app and closing it by swiping from the top edge. that's all i meant... (and between brackets that a second cover action, like pinning covers) would be interesting)

There seems to be "close all" in pulley menu when using long press on multitask screen.

I see this to be faster the way it is now - click to enlarge, swipe from top to close. (Current click+swipe against your suggested hold+swipe). Also close all works nice enough as it is now.
What i would prefer is to just "swipe away" open titles. Close all works ok. But if you have 6 apps open and want to close 3 it is difficult to open every app and then close them. It is easier to jus hold app and then close them ny clicking x. Best solution would be swiping away, i just dont know how that could be done.

We need a direct cover button to close without the "long touch" process...which is a tad bit too long for my liking Basically, Sailfish which is designed for multitasking and fast actions forces the user for slower speed of execution because of unnecessary design "delays"
I don't hate your idea (it worked great on the Nokia N900) but I can't see a direct cover button for "close" fitting in with the Sailfish user interface design, what with all its swiping.

How about closing an app in homescreen by using swipe gesture on app covers (Swipe from top to bottom). Now we have only two - swipe from right to left and left to right. Adding top to bottom swipe to close the app would be useful I gues.
