My Nokia BH-504 BT headset works fine with every phone I have owned but not with Jolla. Please fix.

It pairs fine but no sound from headset and after a while loses connection completely.

I have BH-111 and it works also with any Nokia phone I have tried it with. C7, N8, 808, N9. When trying to pair them, Jolla is not able to see the headset/dongle. edit: user error.

A couple of questions:

  • Do you see an indication of connection in the Bluetooth settings, and does it disappear from there by itself ("after a while loses connection completely")? How long does it take to lose the connection?
  • Do you have problems with both call audio and listening to music with mediaplayer or only with one of those?
  • Can you answer or end calls even if call audio does not work?
  • Is the problem still present with the latest sw update?

... long time no comment :-)

I have also BH-504 and the connection problems. First I do normal pairing for BH-504 and it works and is possible to complete ok. Then I make a call and it works also ok. Then shut down for the first call and a new call again. That next call connection starts and connects ok and BH-504 works for a short time about couple of seconds and BH drops call and BT connection is lost in xperia Jolla and headset go to total jammed status. Even shutting down the MH-504 power is not possible from headset power button!

<< Do you see an indication of connection in the Bluetooth settings

  • BT in phone reads still connected
  • does not disapper itself
  • it takes several seconds to lose the connection, but not in first call butin the second call

<< Do you have problems with both call audio and listening to music with mediaplayer or only with one of those?

  • playing music discgraphy track listings from www.allmusic site works ok from several bands

<<< Can you answer or end calls even if call audio does not work?

  • I end the bt dropped call normally as a normal call

<<< Is the problem still present with the latest sw update?

  • yes and few years passed after from first problem issue noted

BH-504 needs then "reset": power feed must be on and then pressed at the same time the multifunk button (phone call button) and volume up button. "Total" jam reset happen but the old pairing remains Then the test can be repeated and headset is useless after one completed call . For me the BH "reset" looks more like forced power down. I also have BH-905i and no problem with that.

Same test for BH-504 as headset to old samsung galaxy J5 android 6.0.1 phone works ok for repeated times. No problem. => problem with bh-504 is in my Jolla xperia with latest Rokua OS.

  • After the music test with browser xperia Jolla wanted to make a reboot ?! Strange.

Seems like a straiightforward case of none compatibility between the bluetooth hardware in the headset and that of the Xperia device. Another variant of Sailfish powered device for a test run? Especially since another model of the BH seems to work on the device

I find it confusing, even misleading, to use device names like "jolla xperia" and "xperia jolla". To make a good problem report, please always use the correct names, e.g. Jolla Phone, Jolla Table, Jolla C, Xperia X, Xperia XA2, Xperia 10. We all know that they have the Sailfish OS (as the discussion takes place on this forum). The name of the operating system is "Sailfish OS" not "Jolla". Thank you.

Why is the correct device model then so important in case of Bluetooth issues? It is because different devices have different kernel versions and different Bluetooth support (bluez).
