Works perfectly with OpenVPN. You have to do the following steps:

  • configure port forwarding in the router (1194/udp)
  • enable OpenVPN in Diskstation manager and export config files
  • import openvpn config files in Sailfish

It would be helpful if you could describe what you did and what happened ("not succeeded" is not very specific).

Thanks for your quick reply, since VPN works for others I can now come with a more detailed explanation.

First, I have installed VPN client and made the configuration as on the attached picture SD1. Then I have exported config files and transfers them to my Sony X2A with the SailfishOS 3.2.1.20. Next, I open my VPN configuration on the Phone, chose OpenVPN and choose import file see pictures SD2 and SD3. The configuration is as on the pictures SD4, SD5 and SD6.

When trying to login with my Synology login name and password nothing happens, its return to the login screen ☹ Following ports on the pictures SD8 and SD9 are open on the Router and Synology NAS.

Are you sure you modified the server address correctly? The xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx value has to match the internet ip address of your router, in case of dynamic ip address you have to use a dynamic dns service.

Other advanced settings such as encryption algorithms have to match these of OpenVPN server, of cause. And you have to specify the VPN user credentials, either by typing them, of by providing a text file containing them.

I remember the setup procedure was rather simple, and it used to be very reliable since then.

Your description indicates you were using some kind of automatic port redirection in your router? Maybe it's better to do that manually?

I "think" I have checked all you mention.

It has succeed me to connect with Win10 using L2TP, but L2TP can not be used with SailfishOS.

It has succeed me to connect with SailfishOS using PPTP :-)

OpenVPN seems to be too difficult for me to use, or maybe its not possible as for the L2TP connection.

I use OpenVPN connections from Sailfish devices to a Synology diskstation and it works fine. I once had the issue though, that my let's encrypt certificate had expired, which then led to aborted connection attempts. There was no error message, so it took me a while to remember the SSL certificate...

One more potential issue (more relevant to manual setups, though) - at least in the german translation of the OpenVPN settings page, both "TCP" and "UDP" are translated "TCP". Not sure if this also applies to other languages?
