Dear sailors,

I have been trying to change the notification tone for WhatsApp for some time. Unfortunately I have not been able to do this so far. If I make the setting within WhatsApp, it has no effect and the standard sound is retained. I am very pleased that the sound notification works since 3.2.1.20, but I would also like to change the standard sound. Is this a bug or am I making a mistake in the settings? (Sailfish 3.2.1.20, Xperia Xa2 single).

Best regards and a thank you in advance

Have you tried to use AlienDalvik Control from Coderus in openrepos? You can open Android settings and tune sounds

With https://openrepos.net/content/schturman/android-apps-notifications it's possibble to use Jolla's own tones for alarms and notifications also with Android apps. Works fine. Whatsapp etc are also included in.

Thank you very much for your replies. @pat_o: I've tried various settings in AlienDalvik Control - sadly no success. @N9Sailfish: I have installed "android-apps-notification by Schturman". I also read the information that it should work with WhatsApp, but I can't find the "WhatsApp - Option" in the settings. Any Idea?

Thanks and greetings again

@sailaway Whatsapp is included in the app allready. No need to choose anything from settings.

O.K. I've got it. I think I should probably go back to the Nokia 3310. At least this was the last device I got under my control. ;) It is so simple: You don't need any extra. Under the "Sounds and Feedback" Settings you can find the setting "Chat!" Here you can select the sound. That's all. Sorry for the unnecessary trouble.

@sailaway - have you found a working way? I ask wy I have the same problem with Whats App. Only the SFOS Sound is possible not the sound wich I choosed in Whats App. I try many settings but nothing work. With Telegram it works. So we have now the same sound for all chats e.g. sms and Whats App. This is not good for me.

@Ralf: The setting can be found under "Settings - Sounds and Feedback - Chat". Any "jolla sound" can be selected here. Other music files are also possible. No further action is required. I was just too stupid to find this option. Therefore I had previously installed the "android-apps-notifications by Schturman" via Storeman. This addition is obviously not necessary. So I removed it. However, the chat sound can only be set once. I only use one messenger and only need one sound. So "android-apps-notification by Schturman" might help in your case.
