[Xperia X] Am I the only one with jerky Bluetooth? [answered]

Hi, It's been more than two years that I wait patiently, but I'm getting bored: Every single Bluetooth device that I have tried with my Xperia X produces sound that stutters every 5 seconds. I have tested near to 10 different devices (Phillips, JBL, Marshall, no name, ...)

I was waiting because I see the following in every release notes:

Bluetooth: problems with some car equipment, some audio devices and computers may appear

But, I've actually figured out recently that it seems to work for some people, e.g. https://together.jolla.com/question/169519/sony-xperia-bluetooth/?answer=169564#post-id-169564

So my question: Am I the only one to experience this behaviour? Should I try to reflash my Xperia X? Any other idea to solve this issue? I'd really like to be able to use my Bluetooth devices again.. :)

Thanks!

I have jbl headphones which work fine, however only when I close the bluetooth settings, so bluetooth stops looking for other devices. Also, I tend to close many other open apps, which seem to disturb the quality. Also, when suddenly during a movie the volume changes, then it's stuttering, but not as you explain that it's always there.

AAC codecs and more seems to be broken in pulseaudio since SailfishOS 3.x (x being a specific number out of {0, 1, 2}), producing a lot of distortion and stuttering.

So, have you tried different input formats, especially a plain WAV file?

P.S.: It might be helpful, if you specify "jerky" a bit more.

I have been using the Xperia X with Bluetooth in car for over 1 year, once with a standard USB stick plugged into the AUX input, later with the in-car infotainment, and never got stuttering issues. I had other Bluetooth issues but not with audio quality.

counting 4 different bt devices in use for music and podcasts with xperia x, some minor issues but stuttering, no.

Ok, I've found out the actual issue: Rockpool.

Indeed, after reflashing my phone, Bluetooth was working as expected. I then installed Rockpool and connected my Pebble, it was still working.

But the next day, when I tried again without having my Pebble connected, I experienced again the lags. Disabling Rockpool service solved it.

So, it turns out that it was coming from Rockpool service, constantly trying to find a Pebble to connect to!

Filing an issue might help to inform @Andy Branson (and may result in eliminating this issue at its source). ;)

True :) On the other hand I don't really want/expect anyone to spend time on that since Pebble doesn't exist anymore and I have an easy workaround. I'll think about it.
