There's currently a blocker for me using sailfish as my daily driver: I'm put onto pagerduty for work which means that if I get a page, I can't miss the notification. Obviously the official pagerduty app isn't an option because Android notifications are unreliable and iirc it doesn't support custom notification sounds at all from android (Slack just plays the normal chat ding last I checked.)

What I could do is set all of pagerduty's sms numbers in a contact, designate that contact as a favorite, and add a really loud/obnoxious/long ringtone for my favorites so that I'll be woken up even if I'm asleep. It'd be even better if there was an additional option to have the ringtone ignore the current volume and always play ringtones for favorites at 100%.

It could work with a small-ish change. Do you have a repo available for it? The problem with personal ringtones is that it's by-number not by-contact. Pagerduty has hundreds of phone numbers and it's not viable to assign a custom ringtone to each one.

@tekktonic: you can load personal-ringtones via cli and dconf. If I remember right, coderus told me that the ringtone for important contacs plays at 100% volume.

Searching just for ringtone and contact immediately returns the above three results (one from Dec 29 2013!!!). Please use the search first not to waste votes on new questions. That was me not knowing how together works, I suppose. I'd assumed it was on a reddit-like system of votes over time where an old post naturally sinks to the bottom and can't get any more visibility. My bad.
