I think all my questions from this question have been answered - either here or through recent post in both forums.

In 3.2, the updates never appeared. I believe this is because it is not paid version. Please make this clear, as it wastes a lot of time waiting for updates that will never happen. [BTW, why won't you sell outside EU even after 7 years!]

@bongo: There are the following reasons for updates not appearing in the GUI of a Sailfish OS device:

1. (the obvious) there is no update yet for this device
2. you are not registered to getting early access updates - wait 1-2 weeks for the rollout to all users
3. your device has a free Sailfish X version (i.e., there is no licence)
4. there is something wrong in the setup of the device.

How would you know?

1. The device should indicate an available update. The device owner can also see it from Jolla Blog and from the release notes.
2. If you want, feel free to sign in to your Jolla account and subscribe to early access releases. But this is not a solution, really.
3. We tell at the table of https://jolla.com/sailfishx/ that the free version won't get any updates
4. This help article and the linked articles may provide help. In general, we recommend avoiding the command line unless one knows exactly what it implies. Also, installing apps from 3rd parties may lead to problems.

1) You need to clearly state HERE, and in the ANNOUNCEMENT, that free versions don't get updates, not in a disused basement lavatory behind a sign saying beware of the tiger. I know this now - @3.2 I wasted time on it.

2) WHY THE HELL DON'T YOU SELL LICENSES!! (outside EU)

3) Since you have decided not to sell licenses, why try to encourage people to buy it by disabling features, when they can't buy it?

I can now see the clearly missing checkmark under "Sailfish OS updates as long as device is supported" in this chart. Not sure why I missed that information earlier (though I want to take this opportunity to say that I find SailfishOS information/documentation rather scattered, and the discourse forum format can, IMO, not replace a proper wiki).

I have also meanwhile realised that this is (still) an early access update.

FWIW, after using this OS for a while I think it's well worth getting the full version.
