Need your help going back to Android [answered]
Ahoy, Sailors.
First of all, I am sorry for creating another thread, but I didn't find all the necessary info while searching on this website. I am perfectly satisfied with SFOS, and everything is working great on my device (XA2 h3113). The thing is, I would like to try out new Lineage OS 17.1, just a couple of weeks, and then go back into the safe harbor (SFOS).
I have found a couple of threads of people who successfully reverted to Android, but I didn't quite understand a couple of things.
- Should I flash the original firmware first?
- Should I flash the original firmware at all or just somehow flash TWRP and wipe partitions and data from it and then just install Lineage? How?
- Which software is better/easier for that (EMMA or flash tool)? I mainly use Linux on my PC, but wifey has a Win10 on hers.
- After satisfying my desire to use Android for a while, will it be easy to go back to SFOS?
sorry again for a lengthy post and thx in advance, sailors
any help is appreciated
I believe this is covered here despite the slightly misleading title. this is an official Jolla page;

The thing is, I am curious about using a custom ROM in the form of Lineage OS (without Gapps ofc). Installing custom recovery, rooting it, and using it as a daily driver for a certain amount of time and, eventually, going back to SFOS after I get bored with Android. That's why I need help from people who did it already.
branja6 ( 2020-04-25 12:29:02 +0200 )editCool, good luck. I'm still using the original Jolla1, so I have zero experience regarding Sony devices/LineageOS/etc.
Although, back in the day, I was quite experienced with swapping ROM's on my Samsung Galaxy S2, but I haven't played with any of that for many years. I'm pretty sure someone here on TJC can chime in with help for LineageOS, but be aware that LineageOS has nothing to do with SailfishOS (obviously, duh, Edz!) and so this is not really the place for that particular discussion. Possibly XDA Forum maybe a good place to seek help for LineageOS (just a guess).
Spam Hunter ( 2020-04-25 14:03:02 +0200 )editThank you for pointing that out. You are definitely right. I did write to a guy who is maintaining a Lineage ROM on XDA. When I asked him will I be able to go back to Sailfish OS, his response was, and I quote, "God only knows." That's why I'm posting here. In the hope that some experienced SFOS, Linux, Android veterans could help me out.
branja6 ( 2020-04-25 14:22:55 +0200 )editThinking about your last comment, I don't see why you can't come back to SailfishOS after playing with LineageOS. Surely (just a guess) if you revert back to AndroidOS after LineageOS, you can then install SailfishOS. . . ?
