[XA2, 3.3.0.16] Can't open files with any android apps
I can no longer open files in 3.3.0.16 with any Android app.
Example ASCII editor: I open the editor and want to load a file. I get the dialog for sharing files instead of the file selection. This means that no file can be loaded, but only shared with another app.
The editor is just an example. With no other Android app can I open a file (pdf, txt, jpg ...). Only the file sharing dialog opens.
Is that a mistake only for me, or does anyone else have this problem?
Edit: The problem did not occur in SFOS 3.2
Edit 2: Does anyone know a solution? Attaching images or files in messengers and emails is also not possible. This bug makes the phone almost unusable.
Edit 3: See the comments -> "We will fix the access of Android apps to the file system (including the SD card) in OS release 3.4.0. jovirkku (Jun 22)"
Try removing and possibly reinstalling Aliendalvik Control.

Edit: ... and the same behavior without Aliendalvik Control

4carlos ( 2020-04-28 09:04:53 +0200 )editMuch better, Wol... ...äh @4carlos
011011010110101001100001 ( 2020-04-28 09:16:22 +0200 )editI have the same problem. Signal Messenger, for example: When attaching a file to a message, as soon as a file is selected, it is not relayed back to the app, but instead opened with the default Android app for that file type. Worked in 3.2, no longer working in 3.3.016
VinceK ( 2020-04-29 17:46:41 +0200 )edit@VinceK: Thanks for feedback. What you are describing is exactly my second problem with Conversation/Threema. Loading with the ACII editor, for example, causes it to end in a loop that can only be stopped by pressing the ON / OFF button.I tried it with Aliendalvik control and without it. The result is the same.
Have you tried to reinstall Android support?
4carlos ( 2020-04-30 07:45:01 +0200 )edit@4carlos: Yes, thanks for the idea. I just tried it, unfortunately to no avail. The problem still persists.
VinceK ( 2020-04-30 12:39:56 +0200 )editreally sad
4carlos ( 2020-04-30 13:55:06 +0200 )editI just rebooted and was stuck at the Sony logo, so I had to re-flash. After flashing 3.3.016 directly (as opposed to getting there by upgrading), the issue still persists. So at least it does not seem to be something that broke during the OTA upgrade. I am using an Xperia XA2 (H3113) by the way.
VinceK ( 2020-04-30 16:33:05 +0200 )editMy Xperia XA2 is affectet too :-( The problem is in Conversations or when I want to open some PDF or other files.
denis.robel ( 2020-05-01 20:36:46 +0200 )editWelcome to the club. Which Sony do you have? I have an XA2 Dual Sim (4113).
4carlos ( 2020-05-02 07:10:26 +0200 )edit@4carlos I do not use Android stuff myself but simply reinstalling may not change much as reading somewhere else suggests. You may also need to do some cleanup on uninstall like directories ~/.android and similar. After cleanup only, you should attempt the install.
addydon ( 2020-05-02 13:24:21 +0200 )edit@addydon, thanks for the reminder, but @VinceK wrote that the bug persists after flashing 3.3 again. Usually the device should be clean after re-flash?
4carlos ( 2020-05-03 07:13:58 +0200 )editSome android apps work for me, e.g. Whatsapp and Signal work. Others, like Outlook and MoneyMonk I am unable to attach any file or picture. Please fix, this bug, really annoying.
Maarten ( 2020-05-10 16:05:49 +0200 )edit@Maarten Signal attachments only work if I choose Gallery, not if I choose file. Is this the same for you? This is probably because from the looks of it Signal uses it's own Gallery implementation and the Android support for files. Only the latter fails.
