Since SFOS 3.3 the chances to get a GPS fix went down to 0. Before 3.3 it used to help to start a native app, to get an GPS fix in say here maps. This stopped to help in my case since 3.3.
Today i again needed navigation and GPS seems to fail again. So i did start GPSInfo and magic: immediately got an correct position in Kurviger (an android nav app).
I am now using Situations to start GPSInfo on location=on. Hope this works for you too

Blame the US patent system for that, and (I guess) Skyhook in particular. SailfishOS uses Mozilla Location Services, a free service, but which under pressure of litigation has had its policy changed, reducing the functionality. GPS still works fine on my XA2, but it really needs reception from the satellites.
Here's the relevant part of the blog announcement re. API keys:
Under our new policy, all users of MLS API Query keys must apply. Non-commercial users (such as academic, public interest, research, or open-source projects) can request an MLS API Query key capped at a daily usage limit of 100,000. This limit may be increased on request. Commercial users can request an MLS API Query key capped at a daily usage limit of 100,000. The daily limit cannot be increased for commercial uses and those keys will expire after 3 months. In effect, commercial use of MLS will now be of limited duration and restricted in volume.
So, Jolla could have an API key, but it would be limited at 100.000 requests, and must renew it (and therefore installed programs on all Jolla devices) every three months.
I think we can agree that that is not feasible.
Now the interesting question is whether it's possible to get an individual API key as an end-user, and add that to the SFOS GPS fix functionality. Chances are slim though if I read Mozillas application form correctly (emphasis mine):

Hi. GPSInfo is not working for me, I have tried to get a location fix with it, OsmAnd~ and HERE WeGo for hours to no avail. Also SFOS 3.3 Rokua.
