Hi community, I stumbled right now over a very old problem that I thought was solved in 2015. Setting up calendar for a GMX account.

Since the last OS update my calendar seems not to be syncing at all anymore , in the past I had various times problems with connectivity, so I decided to delete the account and start from scratch. But I guess something on SFOS side has changed and I can not follow the old description mentioned here anymore: https://together.jolla.com/question/72605/gmx-and-caldav/

Does anybody now what I have to do now differently? the GMX help describes the Thunderbird integration that worked in the past but now comes the error message: Oops! The account couldn't be created. The network request failed.

I finally solved it. The problem is GMX describes the connection to the server as one big url but you actually have to split it up in SFOS account settings to be able to connect and sync correctly.

Here is the example: https://kalender.gmx.net/begenda/dav/youremailaddress@gmx/calendar you should put for server really only:
https://kalender.gmx.net and the rest into the calendar field below. Therefore it becomes mandatory and is not optional anymore.

I guess this should also work with other united internet services like web.de

Hey, thanks for that. (you could also use address https://caldav.gmx.net)
Maybe now I will split my calendar and put some of it to internet?

As you are using gmx: is carddav also working?
And (I am afraid I know the answer): will it sync the whole address book from device to internet? Or (preferred) create as with calender a new section/book of contacts and only that part is synchronized?

Hi it is working too but I initially didnt set it up with my account. So I tried with another gmx account and could see my contacts getting transferred. The only problem now seems to be that after initial account creation you can not add the carddav anymore. So I guess you have to set it up all at once.

Thanks.
Could you please answer that:

Im not sure how to create sections, but it automatically uploaded the complete contacts from the phone to the server. It never asked me to select a part or all. Maybe while setting up you could indirectly choose a sub directory with the same name like a contact group on the phone to have a selective sync. But Im purely speculating here. I guess it just does the full up/download.

What I see though is that it creates many entries in this style ;Home;;; if these are originally sim contacts. seems like Jolla stores then differently in the DB than it shows. I have now many double entries because it also seems to split the linked contacts again into single ones... not really comfortable

Thanks again.
So a no-go for syncing contacts (for me).
