Hello everybody,

I wanted to connect my Jolla with my BMW ConnectedDrive System via Bluetooth, at the first time it seemed that the connection works, because my Jolla and the System connected successfully. But then I checked the phone book and the audiostreaming (in the ConnectedDrive System) and it looks like that jolla doesn't support the BMW ConnectedDrive System. There are no entries in the phone book and audio streaming isn't possible at all. Has anyone a solution what to do or is Jolla already working on a SystemUpdate concerning Car- Connectivity ? It is really important for me to use my smartphone in the car via the ConnectedDrive, so it would be great if there is any solution out there!

Greetings Robin

Are you sure about audio streaming? Because it is workingfor me, better than with the n9 at least. The media player must be active, and music metadata is not shown, but that is another issue... Phone book is not syncronized however.

I confirm that the June 2014 update brought contacts visible to bmw (520 2012) bluetooth telephone display. I can now use addressbook from car display. The audio worked even before the update.

I think your issue is related to this post: PBAP Bluetooth Profile Support is Requested.

PBAP is not supported yet by Jolla, however there are possible workarounds which discussed in the post above.

As the bluetooth audio (HSP, A2DP) and some control function (HFP) works, you can use the car bluetooth system.

Via bluetooth system possible

  • to receive/decline incoming calls
  • to call numbers from where you have received, or to where you have already started calls via Jolla (means the numbers are stored in the car system, and call to those numbers are possible).

(At least it works like this in my car.)

Update: In my car the A2DP doesn't work well with Jolla, I have possibility to switch off A2DP profile, in that case HSP profile take over the audio transmission. That works well for audio part.

Check in the system of your BMW if A2DP, HSP, HFP is supported or not. If yes, try to set HSP and HFP on, and switch off A2DP.

Have you tried editing the paired connectedRide device type in your Jolla? Tap & Hold the device, then choose 'Show Device Settings', tap the 'Type' and change to 'Car Kit'. Perhaps changing between types can solve the issue with the audio streaming...
