I have quite a lot of contacts that were synced to google with my last android phone. Since i don't want to use googles service any more it would be nice if i could import those contacts in a way that leaves them on the phone after deleting the google account. Is that at all possible? If not, consider this a feature request.

I agree that this should be possible! It's a strange but commonly used concept. Why do mail service providers become kind of owners of your contacts and all of them are deleted if you cancel the service?? It should be possible to manage contacts independently of any mail service and back them up using vCards, a private cloud or possibly a PC Suite.

@chris.adams Could you post/convert that workaround as an Answer to this question. Thanks.

Currently, the only way to do this is: 1) open up Gmail in web-browser, go to Google Contacts 2) Click the "More" button 3) Click "Export" 4) Select vCard (vcf) format 5) Import that vCard as you would any other vCard (copy it to the phone, then go Settings/Apps/People/Import from vCard)

I agree that a simpler way to do a one-time import from Google would be nice. We can look into providing that as a feature in the future.

SyncEvolution should be able to do this. (Not tested on Jolla to my knowledge, though.)
