Sync music between Banshee and Jolla
A feature I thought I could not live without, but I am slowly ready to accept isn't there, is syncing the Banshee music library with my Jolla, especially the play counts. Now after everything I have learned and researched in the last couple of months this seems to be utopia for the time being. Yet, in another thread someone mentioned to be able to sync Banshee using the Linux Mint system somehow and I would be highly interested to learn more if someone has experience in this.
Thus far, it looks like this: I am using Kubuntu 12.04 with Banshee 2.4.1. With some patience and restart of Banshee it recognizes my Jolla if connected via USB in the "PC connection" mode. It shows how much space is on the device and even which music files are currently on. But the only thing it seems I would be able to do is import music from my Jolla to the Banshee library. I don't see any option though of transferring music to the Jolla not to speak of any syncing possibility. Another problem is that the external SD card where my music is housed is not recognized by the Banshee connection, only the internal Jolla storage.
I used iTunes with the iPhone before and I am spoiled, yes. But if anyone knows any offline sync option right now or especially in the future from the Jolla side, that'd be great!
Have you tried dragging the desired music from the track list to the jolla device on the right? I used banshee to move the latest Ultravox album to my jolla. Banshee even transformed the songs from flac to mp3 on the go. ...on Mageia 4.

debexpert ( 2014-02-07 18:43:14 +0200 )editThanks for the hint, just tried the dragging from the Banshee library onto the Jolla. Files were transferred, but an error message occurred. Anyway, files were on the Jolla, but the tagging was messed up. After unplugging, the Jolla Media Player recognized the files, but with the track numbers put in front of the file names. Then I reconnected, but e.g. the play count was not recorded. OK for desperate file transfer, but definitely far from syncing :/ Wonder what it needs to make this a reality?
Deonith ( 2014-02-07 23:31:01 +0200 )editIt would be nice to have something like gnome's Conduit for syncing files. Apparently it works with N800... nudgenudge- https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/Conduit/SyncStatus
