Before updating to 1.0.3.8, the GPS would find your current location in just a couple of seconds, and it would be accurate. After update, it takes several minutes. This is most evident in an app like FourSail or Jolla's own Maps app. However, I don't see any changes to GPS in release notes of 1.0.3.8, so were some minor adjustments not mentioned or could this problem be caused by something else?

I got my phone only after 1.0.3.8 so I cant comment on whether the issue is new, but I have noticed the same thing.

It seems like Assisted GPS positioning isnt working properly, as this issue is mainly manifesting indoors. And this is an issue with the phone itself since other phones dont have problems positioning in the same locations.

Either the phone cant find your location at all (indoors) or it takes ages (outdoors).

My experience is that this problem has existed from the first release. Occasionally GPS gets fix fast, but it is more like one time out of ten.

Well, for me it was ten out of ten before 1.0.3.8, but zero out of ten after. Maybe I was just really lucky and my luck ran out :).

I'm somehow glad to know it's not only my problem. I can confirm, that while before updating to 1.0.3.8 gps worked more or less, it has really become unusable after.

GPS is on 1.0.3.8 unuseable for me.

I had the same problems with gps, here is how I got them fixed: I have the warehouse application from openrepos installed with some repos enabled. And the warehouse app provided me updates for two packages:

  • libherepositioning -> Update to Version 1.2.0-10.6.1.jolla
  • here-daemons -> Update to Version 1.2.0-10.6.1.jolla

Since I installed these updates, GPS fix is done within seconds. Hopefully these packages are also part of the next official sailfish update?

I test the new version but the GPS offset bug on Sygic application is still there :(

Didn't work for me either...

Those updates did nothing to me.

This is slowly starting to really irk me, the GPS feature in the phone is useless to me, it just cant find my location. It'd be a real shame if I had to switch my phone due to this... So frustrating.

Any word from Jolla on those two packages? I find it odd there are two updates on an official repo (adaptation1) and I get no notification about them. How do we know this isn't a case of hacked server, as it happened to other projects in the past?
