I have a lot of technical documentation in pdf format. To be able to search though a document would be very useful. Please add that feature.

Hello,

I'm proposing an implementation for this, see : https://together.jolla.com/question/90317/help-improve-document-application/

Do you have any remarks on the interface for this ?

The code is visible in my github (toolbar branch).

I installed as follows:

This version works fine so far, but as I understand, the in-PDF search is not yet in that version. Could you please make a new rpm available? Thanks!

I've done a 0.2 revision on github : https://github.com/dcaliste/sailfish-office/releases/ with the search function. Feel free to report any suggestion or bug.

Hi, Grateful for your efforts on this. Works fine and highlighted text animation looks cute.

I installed 1.1.14. In-pdf search is nicely implemented. Maybe a little animation of the magnifying glass while searching would be useful.

In some pdfs no text is found. I suspect because of embedded fonts. Example http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMCLX7_ADV.PDF

I didn't put it in the answer here, but some polishing in the implementation remain to be done, like a feeback during searching for long documet, indeed.

For your PDF example, I look for "pana" string and it (finally) found it in different places. It didn't highlight the pana of the logo on the first page because it is an image. But "pana" in the url below is found. for instance.

This implementation currently lacks of thinking for very long documents. Indeed, all occurencies are looked for before displaying them. Maybe a smarter implementation would be required at some point, but I think it's better to release this simple implementation first and optimize later, if needed.
