Text input (and other stuff) with Dasher
Dasher is a strange way of zooming into words and sentences. It would be nice to see if Dasher could be used for text input somehow. It has word prediction built in. There are other uses too. Imagine zooming into the right phone number for one of your dear ones. Or zooming into the right tune among thousands in the media app.

Sounds so crazy it might actually work. :)

foss4ever ( 2014-02-11 02:15:53 +0200 )editDasher is pretty much a mature technology. It has been improved over these six years and yet it stays pretty much the same. My linux system (Mageia) comes with dasher as a standard utility. Jolla has an unlike attitude when creating the user experience. Dasher has that same spirit. Do you need more arguments than that?
vattuvarg ( 2014-02-11 07:24:46 +0200 )editAny attempt to make a difference should be greeted wth open mind ;) especially when it's abt novel or alternative ways to enhance the text input in the small touch screens of modern mobile devices.. So, physical TOH kbd, better vkbd, speech-to-text systems, or.Dasher, ..sure why not. Let's see how they work in practice and leave the choice to users..
