The notification area is quite easy to access at any time using your phone however it's pretty unused by default at this point ( Sailfish OS 1.0.8.19).

Making it a place to add widgets (the same you can add to Settings) would be a great use.

This way you can easily enable, disable and access common used functions when they're needed and thereby save battery and the hassle of going to Settings very often.

You could make an option, when you long-press on a setting to have to ability to choose "Add to events view".

Here's an example of what the notification area would look like:

Agree. Very useful thing for me in N9.

Hehe ... and I was about to post same idea today. I would start from showing the connectivity state and time/date. We should only add there ,,widgets'' that provide some useful information and not allo to change anything as that's a notification area .

Good idea. I also question if we really need such a big Facebook/Twitter button?

You can achieve exactly this using the patchmanager installable from the Warehouse. Check out openrepos.net

I know this is an option (which I use myself) however this ticket is about including it by default. Also using a program like patchmanager could void your warranty and brick your phone.

It would also be cool to be able to manage what apps can give you notifications, as some Android games give many notifications when ever they feel like it.
