ringtone plays through the phone speaker even if headphones are connected

I noticed kind of annouance. If user has headphones inserted to the phone (corded headphone) and the phone rings the ringtone is still played through the phone speaker.

Could be nicer that the ringtone would play only from the headphones if they are connected to the headphone port

But what if you leave the headphones connected and leave the phone alone?

what do you mean? What I mean is that when the headphones are connected to the headphone plug/port, every call you get, the ringtone will play through the phones loudspeaker and not from the headphones.

It would be much nicer that the ringtone would play only from the headphones if they are connected to the phone.

having the headphones connected to the phone doesn't mean they are in your ear. And if this happens it would be great to the hear the ringtone through the phone speaker. Hearing the ringtone additional through the headphones is acceptable. Hearing it only through the headphones not. At least for me.

In my opinion is rather odd to connect headphones then leave the terminal around.. if i've connected it, it's because i'm wearing it, otherwise i just disconnected it if i don't need it.. Some Symbian Nokias have had the setting: ring in both headphone/speaker OR only in headphones if connected.

the best way would be the Symbian way and make it configurable. But as I said, I wouldn't change it to headphones only.

There are a few people having there headphones connected even without listening to music. E.g. When at home and listening to music over the phone. The headphones are probably always connected but only in your ears when actually listening. Not when the phone just lie around.

Or you have it in your pocket and not listening the whole way to work and unplug it not until arrival

yep, the configuration option would be the best solution in all aspects.

it would be better that the phone is completely quiet with plugged in earphones. this, for the usage in places where no disturbing noise should occur, for example hospital, waiting room, subway, bus, tram...
