some android apps overheat phone
like waze. the back of the phone (near the camera) gets really really hot. in hot weather, it can become really uncomfortable to hold.
3d games like raging thunder also have the same effect.
if it's any help to the sailors, i find that you can noticeably reduce the overheating by stopping all background android apps. only have that single app running (e.g. waze). so it might be related to multitasking or swapping.....i don't know...
Some apps do heat the phone quite a bit, but I have not noticed "overheating".
More important comment: Why does Waze work on your phone but not mine? :( I just CTD every time I start Waze...

jayki ( 2014-03-17 19:44:23 +0200 )editI also experience overheating every now and then, but I feel it's got more to do with connections than with specific Android apps.
In those instances, the phone also slows down and the interface becomes unresponsive.
It seems to happen when switching from WiFi to 3G doesn't work correctly.
bilgy_no1 ( 2014-03-17 20:39:07 +0200 )editI had overheating after using 3G connection for browsing (and watching couple short videos). After about 30 minutes I had an incoming call and the top part of the phone was hot.
This happened to me twice.
I was wondering of a cooling TOH with a large alluminium strip at the center (not over antennas) to better dissipate heat, as does my Nokia E52.
c.la ( 2014-03-18 14:19:54 +0200 )editthis problem seems to have been significantly reduced with 1.0.4.20 update. i tried waze today. the phone is warm but not uncomfortably hot.
