I haven't found any topic on this... Is there any way to enable subtitles in stock player or in an alternate player ? Thanks.

This is a much needed feature when playing videos, especially for Tablets. In India, most of us view with sub titles enabled as we are not native speakers.

Ok I answer my own question as latest version of LLs Video Player by llelectronics start to support subtitles. The app is still WIP and is available on warehouse (openrepos).

This is not a good enough solution, we need support for subtitles in the video backend. Its more of a hack/workaround.

I don't know the details about how LLs Player handle subtitles. I can reopen until we get a more official answer.

From the developer of LLs Video Player:

"As for subtitles and audio track choosing it is very much limited to the backend aswell. However theoretically subtitle support could be added manually (by just throwing an overlay ontop of gstreamer video output). But I need to investigate that first before promising anything"
