I have quite a few albums (in FLAC) which contains track files with metadata containing artist, album artist and title. However, when of a given album one or more tracks have a different artist, the Media application files in Albums under "Various Artist" (and sorted in a weird way), while I would it expect it to file it under the album artist. (Also it seems that if "Various Artist" is determined for an album, the album artist is missing. Probably due to the way it stores album art.) Does tracker ignore the album artist tag or does the Media application file it incorrectly? Is there a work around or is it just a plain bug?

This is very annoying, I hope they add album artist as a category so it's easier to browser and play certain albums with guest artists and so on.

@Markkyboy I agree with keeping tidy, but these questions refer to album art missing. This question is about an album being of Artist A, most tracks being by Artist A, one or two tracks being by Artist B and then being filed as "Various Artist" while all tracks clearly have the albumartist field set to Artist A... which is clearly ignored.

A side-result is that the album art also seems to be missing (maybe that is filed for album being of Artist A and later not found).

@paulvt - quite right, after a re-read, I'd only focussed on your comments about album art - not the rest of the question, my bad. Original comment removed

@Markkyboy No problem, cheers! They might be related though, missing album art might seem random but maybe the mismatch in artist/albumartist is one of the actual reasons?

@paulvt - very possible it's related. I loaded 18 albums by Ozric Tentacles onto Jolla. The media list in mediaplayer showed 2 artists, yet there is only 1 artist and no album artwork. I took a close look at my 18 albums and realised that many of the metatags were wrong or missing. I fed the 18 albums through an MP3 editor and retagged/artwork for every album/track. I used software called 'MP3tag'.

I then put the 18 albums back onto Jolla and all tracks/albums show correctly and with just 1 artist, as is the expected result, but alas, still no album art for any of the 18 albums - I know the album art is present, as the very same 18 albums displays artist/artwork flawlessly on my Nokia N900.

I realise my points are different from yours, as you are talking about multiple artists in one or more albums, but the problems to sounds very similar to a point, perhaps to go back through the tagging of your files and see if anything is amiss?
