It will be interessting to have a way to start the torch (flash led) without runing a new apps, directly from the pulley menu of the homepage...

Or from the Volume buttons when the device is sleeping (not shut down). Or, why not, when it is completely off? Just random ideas... to make it useful searching in the deep dark ocean :-)

Seconded - this could be added as it was in the N9: use the video recorder and switch on the light. No need for more applications.

The idea is to have a real integration in the pulley menu for exemple, to avoidto wait the time to run the application... I think this is a miss for android and can be a + for sailfish

An alternative would be to provide an API (and/or centralized user visible Setting) for controlling which apps/functions to activate from main screen pulley menu or from the long/short/triple volume button presses. Then users can decide whether they want more a flashlight or music player next/prev or whatever they like. And devs can provide apps for these "whatever".

Illuminating the camera flash led directly from the Lock Screen pulley menu has been possible since Saapunki (1.0.7.16). You still need to install a flash light app though.

  1. Install Flashlight from Store
  2. Go to Settings → System → Shortcuts → Lock Screen → Add shortcut (max 3 short-cuts possible, so you need to replace one if you already have 3 in use)
  3. Done! Flashlight will start from the Lock Screen pulley.

The best option would be to add an item in the lock screen pulley menu (Currently - Silence/Phone/Camera/Settings) I am not sure if this is something any developer could do or we need Jolla to implement this.

The possibility to edit Lock Screen pulley menu short-cuts was implemented in 1.0.7.16 Saapunki.

Some Nokia phones was able to turn on light just by long pressing lock button. It's a greate feature, was working even when phone was locked, and could be used without looking at phone. Is it possible to use one of the volume buttons for turning LED on and off?

I use the camera as a flaslight. Just hold the sutter button pressed down as long you need the light.

well apparently it doesn't work since 1.0.2.5 update as the LED does not stay on all the time and in the end the camera always takes a picture (useless ballast)
