At first I thought the search is broken because it couldn't find all my contacts. I noticed root reason to be that they have only "nickname" (kutsumanimi). They don't have firstname/lastname (etunimi/sukunimi) at all. Those contacts show up just fine in bigger list, but I can't find them with search (näytä haku/etsi henkilöitä). These contacts are imported from old SIM card and include some operator defaults as "Asiakaspalvelu" and "Numeropalvelu".

Expected result: People search should include nickname into search.

Is there a fix already coming for this? At least 1.0.2.5(Maadajävri) doesn't contain it.

I also have contacts that don't have names or nicknames at all. I have stored company phone numbers in such way, that the company name is stored in the "companyn name" -field and now those cannot be found either. I can access those contact cards after I have called the number to fix this, but not before.

I noticed that I have super-powers now, so I changed the title to match both cases (or all cases).

With sw 1.0.2.5 in my phone I created an artificial entry/person to People. It has the nickname Jaska but no last or first names. Jaska works in company Höh. The search utility in People finds this person when I type either 'Jas' or 'Höh' to the search box. - Is the reported problem related to importing the contacts, somehow?

Virmajor: For me it was a contact I imported from N9. I tried your scenario, but you can't create contacts that only have company name and a phone number in them.

Yes, so it seems to be. I would think it is an uncommon use case. Can you perhaps use the company name as the last name, as it seems some kind of name is required?

Search in the People app does include properties such as nickname, but these properties are usually not loaded, to reduce the application startup time. I have a pending change to load more searchable information in the background after the app has loaded, which will make this work as expected. It is not fixed in version 1.0.2.5.

This change is released in version 1.0.3.8.

What about merging it in SFOS2?
