I would like to have the mail application to ask if images are loaded in email or not. Now they are loaded automatcally. This helps to fight spammers and such. Also a setting could be added, manual/automatic. This is a basic feature found in other email applications, that I would like to see added to sailfish.

External ressources at all instead of only images please.

https://emailprivacytester.com/ goes wild, when I open an email in the jolla email app.

Plaintext(send and view) mode is a must-have feature for any mail client IMHO.

I accidentially filed a duplicate, with some more ideas: https://together.jolla.com/question/11166/mail-app-dont-load-external-content-by-default/#post-id-11639

A good idea by user Milhouse from the duplicate question https://together.jolla.com/question/11166/mail-app-dont-load-external-content-by-default/#post-id-11639 added here:

Rather than allowing this to be enabled by default, include an option allowing external content from senders that you consider to be "safe" (ie. "Always show content from this sender"). There's also a case for automatically allowing content from senders in your contacts.

Any sender not in your contacts, or that you haven't previously flagged as "safe", shouldn't have their remote content shown by default.

I think kontact/kmail solves this problem very elegant. Per default the user sees the plain text email. If it is a html mail, theres a little link on the top to activate the html view. When html is activated there is another link to download pictures.

Jolla could adapt this and add two buttons on the top (or use the pulley-menu): "Allow html once" and "allow html always". The same with the picture download. So the default is "html off" but everyone could simply change it to "html always on" and "pictures always on".

Therefore the ones who want to see the pictures always just need to press two buttons once at first use. All others who prefer a more privacy-safe setting could enable html/pictures for specific messages. Sometimes it might be useful to see some pictures in mails ;)

I think the functionality that would satisfy most users is to add a pulley-menu in the message, Show html and Show pictures. Show html could also have the show always option. For pictures I suggest either always off, i.e. user must always choose Show pictures, a sender based option to allow them always from that address or show always(current functionality).

This is really a big problem for me. My email address is publicly available (referenced on various websites), so I get a steady stream of spam. Whenever I happen to "confirm" the validity of my email address by downloading a marker-picture (or other tag) in a spam, the stream immediately increases to floods of spam for several months. I am too afraid to open emails in the Jolla because it might be a spam, so this is a show stopper for using the Jolla for email for me. That is a big show stopper in general for Jolla.

Heading to Settings>System>About shows my version is 1.0.5.19 (Paarlampi), and the lateste version (even after pulling down "Check for updates"). Is it live yet?

@VDVsx "First to first ones" means those that bought the first pre-order? Because my device is one of those.

@hobarrera - Yes, if you account is one of the first ones you should have it available, check for updates, if that does not help, see: https://together.jolla.com/question/45064/release-notes-software-version-10716-saapunki/#comment-45095

@VDVsx Yes, I read that a momento ago and tried rebooting the device. The same thing happens.
