Unexpected behavior of clock alarm tone when turning off sound [duplicate]

Since there is an option to set a specific alarm tone it feels a little bit odd to me that when I turn the sound off, the alarm tone also gets changed to default tone. Shouldn't the alarm tone of the ambiance be retained?
