This post is a wiki. Anyone with karma >75 is welcome to improve it.
hi yes this happened to me but got solved by typing pkcon install store-client and pkill store-client in terminal as was mentioned by pycage in another thread.
Edit: this thread.
Has any of the bricks in this thread manually changed /etc/fstab in developer mode?
Stskeeps ( 2013-12-28 00:08:03 +0300 )Got an update notification to update to 1.0.2.5 even though that was already installed. So I thought if I already have it, maybe it's a hotfix (yes, foolish) but if it's the same it can't hurt.
After Upgrading the phone rebooted and now it won't boot properly anymore. It shows the Jolla text, after a while the text goes black and nothing works. I can turn off the phone and the LED shows the red light indicating shutdown. I'm going to try the recovery mode later today.
I edited the fstab file to automount my sdcard since it's formatted to ext4. Any tips would be welcome.
Edit: Worked to recover via usb using telnet ip 23.
Fortunately I didn't installed it, given that I thought that must be a wrong notification/bug... I waited and saw that they have removed it a bit later.
torcida ( 2014-01-08 20:00:43 +0300 )On 1.0.2.5. This afternoon I found my device switched off when I pulled it out of the pocket. I was able to boot it again, but a few minutes later after having put in the pocket again, I found it switched off again. Then I booted it again and after a few minutes it just switched off suddenly while I was using it.
Since then it seems to be working normal again. Digging around in /var/log/boot.log, I just found "SW shutdown request" as reason for the shutdown. Did some watchdog kick in maybe?
Have the same problem. Even factory reset did not solve the problem. Now also an upgrade to the latest firmware causes a reproducible turn off. How can I help investigating?
EDIT: I removed the Micro SD card and now at least the upgrade could be installed. I never did something in etc/fstab but I put a btrfs formated 64 GB Micro SD card into the phone some days before. Maybe really related. Who knows. I'll report if the shutdowns are gone now.
EDIT2: Shuts down again. seems to be this issue (not firmware related!)
jukey ( 2014-01-25 15:03:32 +0300 )Getting on the phone after a comute from work, I had the notification to update apps. Which I did. Then, I had the notification for the major update. Seeing it wasnt working, I checked and saw there was the pkcon/pkill in dev mode. I then started to download, but it didnt work, I restart the phone, unfortunately, I'll only get the opening Jolla manuscript, then nothing, but the screen is alive. I can only swipe from the bottom to see the notification of the update available but i cant "touch" it and as I UNswipe, the screen turns black again.
OTA loaded from 1.0.1.12 to 1.0.2.5, but boot stuck to "jolla" screen. Pwr+Vol- causes start screen change to "ERROR: Invalid boot image loader"... "reverting to fastboot...Mfg: Jolla Product:Jolla"
Nice brick.
Recovery screen + USB connection manifests Jolla as "Boston" in Win device manager. No luck with NDIS.
arigr ( 2013-12-28 00:20:15 +0300 )Very same problem for me... Brand new phone, installed a few apps through the tutorial and then started a sys update that never completed, apps wouldn't launch anymore, tried to reboot and now stuck on this same error screen, no way to connect to the jolla through telnet 10.42.66.66... disappointed
eriolloan ( 2014-02-01 03:54:19 +0300 )I tried to update the phone several times, not worked, then didnt respond to the settings/mail.., so I restart phone. it opened only to Jolla-text and thats it.
if you swipe from the bottom of the screen you should be able to see the notification. You're good to do a reset. :(
update from 1.0.1.12 to 1.0.2.5 blocked. made device reset with ver.1.0.0.5 Now when I try to install new app from the Jolla store always issue "Problem with Store" if I try the upgrade of the OS from "about the product" after checking tells me that the OS is "Up to date"
Attempt to install latest update 1.0.2.5 failed when attempting it first time from previous 1.0.1.12 update. However resetting factory settings solved problem in my case. The tutorial app was also removed during latest update and is no longer accessible.
As others, I have lost the tutorial when upgrading to latest (dev mode enabled and stop tohd.service after every boot) Only little worry was yesterday when the phone rebooted with no apparent reason. Seems that was the first time but I am not sure as this is not (yet) my main phone so it does not have always a SIM and app opened. Only thing I was playing with in yesterday was to stop aliendalvik.service, just because I can ;)

yay, had to do factory reset in the end to make it work. Download didn't work and finally not even any store update worked for me.
